The club

La Lejanía

A family polo club, run by polo players, one hour from Buenos Aires.

The estancia

A family estancia

The land belongs to the Gutiérrez family and was quiet for many years. A few years ago they decided to bring it back to life: the road was built, the field was rebuilt, everything was tidied up and polo returned. Today it has a polo field, a house, a pool, corrals and a barn, and it keeps getting better every season.

It's off the beaten path, and what looks like a drawback turned out to be what stands out most: silence, open skies and the best sunsets in the area.

The people behind it

Mariano and Alejandro

Mariano Gutiérrez is a professional polo player and manager. For more than twenty years he has worked in polo between Argentina and the United States, playing, training and managing patrons' stables. When you come to La Lejanía, he's the one teaching you and the one out on the field playing with you.

Alejandro Gutiérrez is the owner and founder of La Lejanía. He played polo all his life, and he passed that love of polo and horses on to his sons.

Together with the team they take care of everything: looking after the place and the horses, coordinating the staff, teaching and organizing practices. They also coach and prepare those who want to take the next step and play tournaments outside the club.

The horses

The horses

It's where you notice the difference between one place and another the most. They're chosen one by one, depending on who's going to ride them. A beginner will never ride a horse that isn't right for them.
